…helping people know God better and love him more!

Small Groups

At Blue Ridge, we emphasize the importance and the benefit of being in a small group. When you join a small group, you connect with other people on a spiritual journey just like you are....and you can help each other know God better and love Him more. What is a small group? It is just that...a small group of people who meet on a regular basis to care for each other and help each other. Here are some benefits of being in a small group at Blue Ridge Bible Church:

  • You will understand the Bible better in a Small Group
  • You will begin to feel like a real part of God's family
  • Prayer will become more meaningful to you
  • You will be able to handle stress and pressure better with support
  • You will have a natural way to share Christ with unbelieving friends, relatives, and work associates
  • You will develop leadership you never knew you had
  • You will deepen your understanding of worship

If you are interested in joining a group, contact Rich Shipe (rich[at]brbible.org) today, and he can help you find the group nearest to your interest and/or home.

Small Group Types: We offer small groups that focus on friendships and affinity, others that spend a lot of time with in-depth Bible Study, and others that cover topical Bible studies or subjects. Each group meets in advance and decides what they want to study, how they want the group structured, and when/where they will meet. We are all at different stages in our spiritual development, so find the group that meets you where you are and will take you where you need to be!

Small Group Times: Each group decides what night (or day) of the week that they want to meet, what time, and for how many weeks. See the above calendar for details on what is happening now in small groups. You can also contact Rich Shipe (rich[at]brbible.org) for additional information.

quest_for_manhoodI’ve been involved with a great group of guys for a Bible Study at Jon Tigges’s house. We are going through a study by Robert Lewis called Men’s Fraternity. It has been excellent. We do it from 6:30 – 8 am every Wednesday at Jon’s house.

The last few weeks we’ve been looking at how we can be better husbands and one of the key verses is 1 Peter 3:7 which reads: Read the rest of this entry »

What Is It That Every Son Wants and Needs From His Father?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 | By Rich Shipe | Posted in Blog, From Rich, Get Involved, Men, Small Groups, Youth | No Comments »

I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Wednesday morning men’s small group at Jon Tigges’s home where we are going through “The Quest for Authentic Manhood” by Robert Lewis. The format is watching a presentation by Lewis on DVD and then discussing the material among the men present.

Side note: “The Quest for Authentic Manhood” and getting together with other men has been a fantastic time and if you can work it into your schedule I encourage you to make a commitment to it. I hope to see you there!

Something that struck me this morning that I wanted to share are five things Lewis listed as being what every son wants and needs from his father. This aspect is just part of his larger point which I won’t share here but the points on fathering sons was excellent.

Got a son? Read on …

Good things come in threes

Monday, August 4th, 2008 | By Jack Gill | Posted in Blog, From Jack, Get Involved, Small Groups | No Comments »

Have you ever heard the little quip that goes like this, “Good things come in threes!” There‘s some truth to that! Let‘s see…S‘mores (chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows), the American Flag (red, white, and blue), education (reading, writing, and _rithmetic)… and even the best of family entertainment, the 3 Stooges (Larry, Moe, and Curly)!

In the same vein, I would propose a set of good things in a package of three for us at Blue Ridge as well—a rule of three for everyone who is a part of our body. We have so many excellent programs and opportunities in our church for a person to participate in to aid their growth in Christ. How does one choose? With September just around the corner, and all of the new beginnings that happen in that month, it can be difficult to decide what you will be a part of, and what you will not. I‘d like to propose three fundamental areas we could all be a part of when it comes to the church.
