Children's Choir
The Children's Choir at Blue Ridge Bible Church is a dynamic way for children to praise and worship God through music. With multiple performance opportunities throughout the school year--including specials in the worship service, musical dramas, and performances at outreach events--children are able to take an active part in the ministries and outreach of the church. At Blue Ridge, we celebrate the fact that the Lord has ordained the lips of children and infants to give Him praise! (see Psalm 8:2; Matt. 21:16)
Eligibility
Children between the ages of 7 and 13 as of January 1, 2010 are eligible to participate in choir. No previous musical experience is necessary.
Cost
There is a $5 cost for new families at the beginning of the year for a music CD and approximately $10 for a choir t-shirt.
Schedule
The choir rehearses every Wednesday night from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. from September through May. We rehearse at the church, downstairs in the quad room. For safety reasons, parents should come inside the building to pick up their children. We will not release them from the room without a responsible person to pick them up. We are getting excited about preparations for our new Children’s Choir musical Under God’s Sea in 3D scheduled for performance on Friday, May 14. Although there are no auditions needed to be a part of the choir, we will be holding auditions for speaking roles and solos Sunday, March 21 (12:30 – 1:30pm–after Worship Service in the quad room) and Wednesday, March 24 (6:30 – 7:00pm / 8:00 – 8:30pm–before and after choir rehearsal). Auditions will be videotaped and evaluated by a panel of judges. Results will be announced by Wednesday, March 31. Here is the order form you should fill out if you’d like your children to be a part of our spring musical, “Under God’s Sea in 3D.” It’s an exciting musical that teaches children about how God reveals Himself to us through His creation, His Word, and His people. Our performance of the mini-musical “Lighthouse Fire Station” will be on Friday, November 20, 2009. We will be performing at the church as part of a special night of worship. Since the date has been pushed back from our original October date, I have decided to also push back the auditions in order to give more time for the children to prepare. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 6:30 – 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, October 21 from 6:30 – 7:00 pm.

Here are two new songs we are learning in Children’s Choir. The mp3 that for some reason is titled “A Wise Man” is actually a song titled “I Will Do My Best For Jesus.” Please have your child listen to this song as much as possible as we will be performing it in only a few weeks, on October 18 in the worship service. It is the second sound clip below. The other song, “Half a Million Reasons,” is tentatively scheduled for a November performance.

Our children’s choir is starting up again on Wednesday, September 9 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, and we’d love to have your elementary-age children join us! Children ages 7 to 13 as of January 1, 2010 are welcome to participate. No previous musical experience is necessary.

Everyone is encouraged to attend a Blue Ridge Night of Praise on Friday, March 13, 7:00-8:00 p.m. The children’s choirs will be presenting the mini-musical “Heaven’s Kitchen,” and there will be a great time of fellowship and praising the Lord through music together with our worship team. It’s for the whole family. Childcare will not be provided.
