Children's Choir
The Children's Choir at Blue Ridge Bible Church is a dynamic way for children to praise and worship God through music. With multiple performance opportunities throughout the school year--including specials in the worship service, musical dramas, and performances at outreach events--children are able to take an active part in the ministries and outreach of the church. At Blue Ridge, we celebrate the fact that the Lord has ordained the lips of children and infants to give Him praise! (see Psalm 8:2; Matt. 21:16)
Eligibility
Children between the ages of 7 and 13 as of January 1, 2011 are eligible to participate in choir. No previous musical experience is necessary.
Cost
The cost for music throughout the year is approximately $10 - $20 per family. There also may be additional costs for t-shirts, which are typically between $5 - $10 per child. We work hard to keep costs as low as possible.
Schedule
The choir rehearses every Wednesday night from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. from September through May. We rehearse at the church, upstairs on the 3rd floor. The full schedule that includes performance dates is displayed on the right or for full calendar view of just the Children's Choir calendar click here.
Safety Policies
Children need to be signed in at the beginning of choir and signed out at the end. Sign-in begins at 6:45 p.m. and sign-out begins at 8:00 p.m. Children will not be allowed to leave the choir room without a responsible adult.

For the fall, we will be working on three songs from the Young Musicians 4.2 album. We will be working on the following songs:
1. He is the One
2. There is No Greater Joy
8. Come Let Us Worship
These songs are available for purchase on iTunes for $0.99 each. I will not be purchasing CDs and songbooks at this time, so if you’d like to listen to the songs at home, you can do so by purchasing them from iTunes.

We are getting excited about preparations for our new Children’s Choir musical Under God’s Sea in 3D scheduled for performance on Friday, May 14. Although there are no auditions needed to be a part of the choir, we will be holding auditions for speaking roles and solos Sunday, March 21 (12:30 – 1:30pm–after Worship Service in the quad room) and Wednesday, March 24 (6:30 – 7:00pm / 8:00 – 8:30pm–before and after choir rehearsal). Auditions will be videotaped and evaluated by a panel of judges. Results will be announced by Wednesday, March 31. Our performance of the mini-musical “Lighthouse Fire Station” will be on Friday, November 20, 2009. We will be performing at the church as part of a special night of worship. Since the date has been pushed back from our original October date, I have decided to also push back the auditions in order to give more time for the children to prepare. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 6:30 – 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, October 21 from 6:30 – 7:00 pm.

Here are two new songs we are learning in Children’s Choir. The mp3 that for some reason is titled “A Wise Man” is actually a song titled “I Will Do My Best For Jesus.” Please have your child listen to this song as much as possible as we will be performing it in only a few weeks, on October 18 in the worship service. It is the second sound clip below. The other song, “Half a Million Reasons,” is tentatively scheduled for a November performance.
