Don’t forget Mom and other reminders

Praises
We praise our God for enabling Rich Shipe to successfully complete his seminary work, and pray blessings to his family as they celebrate his graduation this weekend in Texas. Please pray for the Shipes as they prepare for their church planting adventure that starts in August.

We also are thankful to our God for our mothers as we celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday. There’s still time for you to make your mother proud before Sunday with extra special attention this weekend.

Congregational Meeting – May 15
All members are encouraged to attend the congregational meeting on May 15, immediately after the 11:00 service. The purpose of the meeting is to take a vote on David Parker as the candidate being recommended by the elders for youth pastor. The elders are available for input from the congregation this week. Childcare for ages 2-8 years will be provided during this brief meeting.

5-Day Backyard Bible Clubs
Are you looking for a summer ministry in July that’s fun and gives the opportunity to share the gospel at the same time? Come to an informational meeting on Sunday, May 22, 12:30 in the library. Here’s how you can help – We need teens 14+ years old to serve as missionaries to lead the clubs. Host homes are needed to invite neighborhood children to the club at your home. Adult volunteers are needed to help drive our youth leaders to the different clubs. We also are looking for a photographer or videographer to capture the activities.

Honoring Our High School Graduates
In the June 5 worship services, we will honor the 2016 high school graduates from our congregation. If you are one or have one in your family, provide the graduate’s name on a comment card or to no later than May 22. Please note that this is for anyone who is graduating from high school in May or June, from public, private or home schools.

Psalm 73 was the focus of Pastor Rich’s second sermon on laments in the Bible. The psalm is a good example of the layout of laments, which go from conflict/complaint to expressions of truth to worship. Questions to ponder — Is conflict important to growing relationships? Which comes first — faith or understanding? Where do we most find God’s presence? And finally “Is The Christian Life Worth It?”
