If or when it snows & other Sunday info

Winter Weather Advisory
As we saw this week, a storm can come out of nowhere, dropping or raising the temperature 15 degrees. In the event that we ever get snow this winter, please remember to check The City or the website before you come to church. Because we have so many people who live in areas where the roads get icy and don’t get cleared, we often decide to cancel Sunday services. Our staff tries to make the call by 7:30 a.m. on those Sunday mornings when snow has fallen or is predicted to fall during the worship times.

Bake Sale on Sunday
Are you having holiday sugar withdrawals? We have a team of 14 people going to Romania this summer and they will be doing some bake sales and other events to raise the funds. This Sunday, January 17, is their first bake sale, so come ready to get a few sweets for a good cause after each worship service.

Souper Bowl of Caring Outreach Opportunity
Souper Bowl of Caring is a church wide outreach which will impact our community on multiple levels. This outreach will introduce us to our neighbors, feed the hungry through the collection of non-perishable food from our neighbors, and hopefully begin to establish relationships too. Cards will be available at the table at the back of the auditorium on January 17. Take a bunch to hand out in your neighborhood by January 24; schedule pick up of the canned goods between January 24 and 31. You can bring your collection to church on January 31 or February 7.

Women’s Coffee & Conversation – January 25
All BRBC women (18 years & above) are encouraged to come to our next Coffee & Conversation on January 25. Complete info is on the bulletin flyer and The City, or contact our hostess Jan Murphy ( or 540-338-2480).

How about serving in Children’s Ministry?
We are blessed to have many children in our church family. We are also blessed to have numerous adults, singles and youth who have stepped up to serve in our children’s ministry. But we really need some more helpers to assist our teachers, especially during Sunday School. Contact Regina Gossage () for children’s ministry, and Bethany Johns () to be placed on the nursery rotation schedule for either worship service.

Smiling Faces Needed
Would like to be the first friendly smile that people see on Sunday mornings? Please consider joining our Welcome Team. For more information on what’s required and how the schedule works, contact Debbie Stevenson ().

On January 10, Pastor Jack shared from Hebrews 1:2b-4 which describes the many facets of the “jewel” we have in Jesus. You can download the entire sermon “The Proof of Greatness” or find a summary of the facets in a message from Jack on The City entitled “Sunday Sermon Folow-up”
