Greetings from Arequipa! This will be the last update before we arrive in West Virginia on March 12. We are looking forward to hearing from our churches about setting up meetings as well as visiting with our individual supporters. Read the rest of this entry »
Yes, we are obviously canceling church again tomorrow! Also canceled is AWANA tomorrow and as well as Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and AHG for Monday evening.
However, instead of just an e-mail, our “tech team” (Carter Farley and Tom Gossage) has made it possible for us to send you a brief message. If you will connect to the link below, it will direct you to a short video that I hope will equip and encourage you this Sunday.
Also, for those of you who might be struggling to come up with a lesson for Sunday morning, here is a short devotional to assist you if you need it!
Finally, here is the link to help assist you with online giving (as mentioned in the video.)
I pray that you have a great day in the Lord, and that you can enjoy the snow!
Although we remain hopeful that we will not have to cancel a second Sunday, we wanted to let you know our plan — 1) we will monitor the situation throughout Saturday; 2) our snow plowing company is going to be in contact with me and ready to do whatever they can to get the parking lot cleared; 3) we will send out notices by email and on the website, and I will be changing the church answering machine message as well.
In the event of a cancellation, please expect an additional email from Jack with some pastoral encouragement for you and your family to use as you spend the Lord’s Day at home.
Everything is canceled today. This means Sunday School, Worship Service, New Member Class, and AWANA.
The New Member Class has been rescheduled for the same time on February 21.
Sprinkle me with water and I will be pure; wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7
Where have nearly 300 people been brought to faith in Christ in the midst of Muslim dominance during the past year? Why, Ghana, of course! Read about it, as well as the over 10,000 kids served in day care, the 800+ women building hope for the future in a micro-enterprise development program, and much more in these 2 updates: Read the rest of this entry »
Looking for a ministry to channel your money for relief work in Haiti? Consider Samaritan’s Purse. They mention that their local partner is Baptist Haiti Mission which is just up the road from the orphanage I visited a month ago. I have not heard any news yet on how that orphanage is doing but will update this post when I do.
Please pray for the people of Haiti and for God’s church in that already impoverished nation.
Update: The orphanage I visited is doing fairly well considering. They had no known damage to their building and also received their monthly delivery of food just two day before the earthquake hit. Praise God that he has provided and protected. We trust him for our provision and care and know that “all things happen together for good to those that love God and are called according to His purposes.”
Another Christian orphanage that you might consider learning more about and supporting is God’s Littlest Angels. They’ve gotten a lot of news coverage in the US.
